mouse stops working once windows xp loads...help

Recommended Posts

My computer mouse stops working once windows xp fully loads. I have a couple moments to do a few actions, but I cannot get it to do anything after that. I have restarted in safe mode and restarted it back a couple days. But nothing is working. Any ideas??

Thanks ms_tishy

What connection do you have for the mouse? PS/2 or USB?

Is type of mouse is this, wireless, laser....?

What exact service pack of XP are you running, SP1, SP2..?

When I log in under safe mode, the comperter says Windows XP Home Edition. Is there somewhere I can look to find out if it is SP1 or SP2? But as for the mouse, it is the one on the lap top. I do not have anything plugged in on the computer.

Thanks.

Ahh... a laptop mouse pad? What make and model laptop is this?

You may need to install the latest driver for the mouse pad.

Have you also checked for any viruses on the laptop?
