Clixtr Selected as Finalist for Mobile Apps Showdown at CES - Published on 01/07/10

Clixtr, Inc. has been selected as a finalist for the CES Mobile Apps Showdown live competition. The San Francisco-based startup has also been selected as a Top 20 semifinalist for the CES Mobile Apps Showdown online competition. The free app lets users create events and upload photos to the event instantly. Since the events are automatically geo-tagged, nearby users can see the events going on around them and contribute their own photos instantly.

San Francisco, California - Clixtr, Inc., a real time group photo sharing mobile application has been selected as a finalist for the CES Mobile Apps Showdown live competition. The San Francisco-based startup, which first launched at TechCrunch50 in September of 2009, was also selected as a Top 20 semifinalist for the CES Mobile Apps Showdown online competition. The free app, currently available on the iPhone platform and the web, lets users create events and upload photos to the event instantly. Since the events are automatically geo-tagged, nearby users can see the events going on around them and contribute their own photos instantly.

"We are incredibly excited and honored to be selected as a Top 10 finalist for the live portion of the CES Mobile Apps Showdown," said founder and CEO of Clixtr, Fergus Hurley. Clixtr has the opportunity to win two different awards from the Mobile Apps Showdown - one of which is through online voting, and the other one is live on stage.

As a Top 10 finalist, Clixtr will present live from the big stage in the Ballroom at the LVCC on Saturday, January 9 at 12:30pm. The Top 20 semifinalists of the online competition, and the Top 10 finalists of the live competition were selected by a panel of experts from NetShelter.net. The winner amongst the 10 finalists in the live portion of the competition will be chosen by the audience through an applause-o-meter.
