Here's what I need to know.

On a Proliant ML-530, running Redhat 7.3 Kernel 2.4.18:

How well would transferring files to an external firewire Hard drive work. I know the speed would be there, but what about size limitations? Can I get above the 2 GB limit?

Would it simply be a matter of installing a firewire adapter, installing drivers, and letting it "rip"?

I've heard Redhat isn't as friendly as other OSes at hot-swapping firewire devices.

Do some Linux-compatible adapters do better than others?

Any Compaq hardware issues regarding this scenario?

Input on any of the above questions is appreciated.
