Recommended Posts

how are they, any improvment from the 6.XX. Also noticed they have better DX8 Support

Didn't work for me either in Win2K, they did some strange things. Even had trouble setting the resolution and color depth sometimes. Couldn't play Counter-Strike, it would just crash right after it finished loading. Are you saying they suck with just Directx 8 RC1, or with all of the betas of Directx 8? Let us know if anybody has some success with these things. My experience was horrible I went back to 6.47.

i haven't had any trouble with them, running dx8 build 219, but the only games i've tried have been q3 and cataclysm. they do seem slower in q3 and occasionally the res and colour depth reset on the desktop but that's about it.

Well these are the 1st in the series of probably detonator 4 drivers. All of the 1st builds in a series are always buggy and focus on stability not performance. These are also FULLY DX 8 compatible so if your not running DX 8 then its frivolous to run em. Im using whistler beta 1 and they work fine for me

I didn't have any problem using the with Dx8Rc0. But they did cause a BSOD if I went into the color correction tab in the advanced setting frown. I went back to old 6.47.

Installed the 7.xx driver, seems to be running much more smoother(stable) than the 6.xx drivers, they really sucked on my pc giving my frequent BSODs. Haven't really had time to test it out on games but being stable is what I was looking for in the first place since I've been having ALi/TNT problems ever since I installed W2K. Saw a registry tweak, will install that later and see if it boosts perfomance.

I tried them and went back to 6.47, as the 7's removed the option for 1152x864 screen res.... I'm curious, is anyone else running 7.xx able to get that resolution?

Run good here on 7.17 and Directx8 build 219. (Haven't tried final yet)SIGNIFICANT increase in performance in D3D. Same performance in Opengl.

64m Aperture no longer blue screens for me.

Clipping in UT OpenGL is fixed. I'm happy.

Nope Soldier of Fortune froze, back to 6.47 plus reports coming out of serious performance hits if you use these drivers so lets try DX 8 and see....

well i tried them out here are my results with a Geforce2 MX:

In 3dmark2000 there was no improvment from 6.47

The only game i play half life(TFC) would freeze

Dude, rock on!

I just installed Dx8 final today with the 7.17 drivers and my video's jammin. Just the programs that I've tried so far are much better. UT in OpenGL now runs completely smooth durring gameplay, before it was bad jerky, almost unplayable. Red Alert 2 no longer pauses during some sound effects when playing and the video runs 100% smooth now! I've played Counterstrike too and it seemed to help out the new model lag problem alot. This rocks, things are running much smoother now. My Direct3d is stil running slower than a Win98 machine by about half, but everything in general is running really good and smooth. smile

I have DX 8 installed, and the 7.17 drivers, and when I play CS, I get mottled green/blue guns and player models, same in any other Halflife mod. Also, when I try to go into the color config in display properties, it bluescreens my computer. Any ideas?

I'm also experiencing a problem with Counterstrike 1.0. If I try anything but software mode it crashes when the screen normally curtains upward after you connect. I'm going to try some of the older 7.xx drivers and see if I can't get it to work.

I'd suggest going back to the 6.34's for the most stability. 7.17's have slowdown's and memory leakes.... all 7.xx+ do. frown
