how do i upgrade the drivers on my "default monitor" to those of my real viewsonice a90 monitor when the display properties have the properties button under monitor tab greyed out? also, the default monitor does not show up in the device manager and i can't "add new hardware" becuase it doesn't have the option to select monitors as a group. any help would be much appreciated.

That's a good question that I'd like to know too. I do know that the refresh rate changer program works well, but I've had mixed success with Powerstrip. Powerstrip doesn't seem to like my new Nvidia drivers at all frown - had to remove it.
The program to manually change the refresh rate for Nvidia cards is here: http://www.fileplanet.com/dl/dl.asp?ztn/nvreffix.zip
and powerstrip is here: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/pstrip.exe

funny - what refresh rate problem are you on about - i have GeForce DDR and run the desktop happily at 1280x1024x85Hz i just picked the refresh rate from the Monitor tab in advanced properties.

the was a problem with monitors and the win2k beta drivers for creative dxr3 - this could be the prob fix is on the board somwhere smile

This can also be caused by the monitor sending crappy ddc (plug and play info) Try changing the monitor cable, or moving it away from power cables.

Are you running a Creative DXR3 DVD decoder with Creative drivers. I had this problem as well after installing their drivers. Dont know any fix for it did a fresh install and used Hollywood plus drivers No Problems!
