I try to install a Mandrake 9.0 's distribution on a Linux's friendly Pc . But i don't have a centrale information: Is Western Digital Hard Drive wd 800BB compatible with this distribution?
On the madrake's hardware database the WD 400BB is quoted as compatible but not the WD 800BB...But in the WD's site i can read that it is the same controler for the both drives...
Someone has try one day to installe mk9.0 on a WD 800BB?

800 GB HD by WD ? Am I reading this correctly ?

No. 1:
I am 100% absoloutly positive that the disk works in Linux. If not, you can to my home and blow my brains out(if you've got a gun).
BTW, I'm using a Western Digital 1200BB disk and it works fine in Linux.
No. 2:
800BB = WD Caviar 80gb
1200BB = WD Caviar 120gb
And JB if it's the Special Edition(with 8MB buffer).

To put it more clearly YES linux will definately work. I don't think Western Digital changed the IDE interface any time recently. :-) Squeaks head is safe. *whew*
