sound server error

hello,

i just installed redhat 9, luckily my soundcard is now supported by its kernel.

i have a fm801 4 channel soundcard.. here is the problem....

everytime i log in, an error window pops, it says:

"sound server fatal error: cpu overload, aborting"

what does this error mean?

pls help.

Please post the error exactly please.

I am guessing you are using KDE. Goto the Control Panel and poke around in the SOUND sections... you'll find a "use full dupley" mode for the sound server.

Uncheck that. Save the settings. Logout and login.

If you still have probs, post the EXACT error message... with codes and all.

hi... when i looked at the sound part there in the control panel, the full duplex item is already unchecked....

what i did was i uncheked the aRTs sound system......
it worked!

any remedy so that i can use aRTs
