Two offices + MPLS / Managed Firewall

Recommended Posts

Hi,

So Let's say I have two offices in the east and west coast (shouldn't matter). The west coast office is on subnet A and East coast is on subnet B. The West Coast has a fractional T1, 1 server and 8 users w/o firewall support (since its mitigated by east coast office) and on domain: abc. The East Coast has a full T1 behind an MPLS/Managed firewall with 20 users. This office is hosting the domain: abc, domain controllers, etc..

Since the majority of the servers, including the file server are hosted on the east coast, that office can easily access it efficiently with no problems whatsoever.

But when the West coast server, let's say is trying to retrieve a 500mb file from the file server, it'll take about 40-60 minutes.

What can i do in order to provide the same efficiency for the west coast office that the east coast office has? Is it a firewall issue that is inhibiting them from send and receiving sizeable files at a (optimal) internal connection speed?

I would appreciate some feedback If anyone has ever dealt with such an issue.

Thanks

Jon

nm, the only resolution to an issue like this is to spend on newer technology with capabilities of synchronization. I'll just upgrade to Windows 2003 R2 and stick with DSSR and probably aim towards purchasing a Riverbed steelhead appliance for performance acceleration.

Anyway........

Thanks
