Hi,
Some are but most aren't.
Non of the Diamond Monster Soundcards appear on the Win2k HCL.
If you pop along to: http://www.diamondmm.com/customer_caretechnical_supportwin2k_audio.htm
You will see a list of those that are and those that aren't.
Monster Sound MX400 is supported, also Diamond have their own drivers.
Monster Sound MX300, use built-in Vortx2 drivers, no updated driver available from Diamond.
Monster Sound original, M80 & MX200 not supported, no support planned.

I am an SB Live person, so I don't really know... I think it might be the Vortex 1.

However, to be certain, you can go to this page and download the Vortex ID utility. http://support.a3d.com/utilities/index.htm

Or, open your computer and read the imprint on the chip.

The MX-300 is Vortex 2 and Aureal has released Beta W2K drivers.......there are certain instructions to load them.....if you do not follow those instructions it WILL NOT WORK.

Yes, you are right, the MX-300 is a Vortex 2. However, he is talking about the MX-25, which was the original Monster Sound. I am not sure which chipset it uses.

It may even be an ESS, but I am not certain.

I think the original monster sound had a proprietary DSP that was able to do A3D 1.0. The chip was not made by Aureal like the Vortex 1/2 cards. That's why there are no drivers available out there.. Diamond is just not going to support the MX25 in W2K.
