Back to what we were looking at in this article. My favorite card in the entire roundup is the VisionTek HD 4850 or any other flavor of the same card, regardless of manufacturer. GDDR5 or not -- in a card commanding a street price as low as $170, I can live with DDR3 and maybe I have to scale back my resolution just a bit. On the other hand, the 4850 provides true high-end visual computing for the masses at a price that only a year ago would buy only an upper midrange card. Maybe that is what the 4850 is, though, but then the upper midrange has become incredibly attractive.
