- New Abit ATA66 Drivers -

Recommended Posts

Anyone try these out? after reinstalling w2k multiple times because of bad drivers and ****, I'm scared..

I know for a fact that these will not enable standby or hibernation support for the hpt366(since the damn chip doesn't support these functions). Did abit fix it so that these features are turned off?

also.. how's the transfer rate? any better/slower/niether?

merci.

I just tried them.

You are correct about hibernation/standby. The error that was plaguing me previously ("secondary IDE device driver is preventing the system from entering hibernation/standby mode....") still exists, though the rev history says they fixed it:

_______

Revision History:

rev 1.23.1 03/12/2000 (internal)

o Fix Windows 2000 hibernate mode on secondary channel

o Add checking revision number to identify different HPT3xx

series products

o This version must comply with new HPT366 BIOS revsion 1.24

or above

_______

As for the rest, I do not have firm results, only been running them for 10 minutes. What is interesting is that there is also a hpt370.inf file in there, though none of the documentation mentions it....

What is that?

Hmmm can't use hibernation? I guess I'm a lucky one then, it works fine. I have both my drives on the first ATA66 channel and a nice squeaky clean install of win2k with a BP6/QQ I bought last thursday, if that makes a difference.

I already this drivers three days ago. Hibernation works perfectly with these drivers on my another machine, but on this, i can't because it say that my advansys scsi card prevents it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

So is it a general concensus that if you have ata66 drives on the hpt366 controller, hibernation/standby will only work if the drives are on the first IDE channel?

So it's a no go if the second ide channel has drive(ata33 or 66)??

ALSO. i just want to check...

Jerry:

Is your ata66 drive your BOOT drive?

thanks

What i would like to know is what is meant by saying that these drivers "must comply with hpt366 bios revision 1.24 or above". There is no such revision... the latest hpt366 bios revision is embedded in the latest qq bios and thats 1.22, isn't it?

As I said:

Abit brand new HotRod 100 controller=HPT370 + bios 1.24 ... eh eh...

It seems this new driver is not for us owners of BP6 mobos ???

I have a thought...

This QQ bios is still beta, is not it?

Maybe official release will have 1.24 bios built-in. Then we may have better support with the new bios and the new driver smile

Mr yellow,

Yes I boot off a Quantum ata66 drive.

That 1.24 thing is kinda odd is'nt it?

Yeah, a 1.23 driver release saying it must be compliant with 1.24 or above? WTF?

On my system, solo UDMA 66 drive on the HPT controller as boot drive, and I've got a UDMA 33 on primary ide master, got a cdrom and CD-RW on secondary ide...

Jerry, are you running MPS? 1.1 or 1.4? I'm running 1.1 now (was having the USB issues), haven't "refreshed" my install of windows 2k with 1.4 under the qq bios yet...wondering if that's a factor...already did it once to get ACPI, forgot to switch MPS value, gotta do it again,I guess....
