Dungeon Keeper 2 Troubles

I know there's a rake of posts about this, but I couldn't find anything about my problem. I installed DK2 under Virtual PC 2007, running Windows 98SE. The game starts fine, runs beautifully, but as soon as I try to enter a game it goes to a black screen and locks. Any ideas?

I don't have the game in front of me but if there's an option in the game menu for 3d acceleration or any 3d options then try disabling them. VPC only support directdraw not d3d.
