Dungeon Keeper 2, winXP, mulitplayer?

Hello, i have Dungeon Keeper 2, it works well on my Win XP, but when it comes to multiplayer, (i want to play with a friend thru TCP / IP connection) when i try to join the game it just hangs and (i guess) it timeouts..
any1 encountered this problem or can give me some kind of solution?
