I'm dual booting ubuntu and xp and using grub
well I went to do a repair on windows and accidentally installed it a second time in the same partition (don't ask). so now I have a windows and a windows.0 folder, anyway I know how to get rid of my extra windows but it is still in the boot menu (not the 1st menu but after I choose windows at grub it then gives me 2 choices of win). so...how do i get rid of that extra one
thanks in advance

What you want to do is modify the Windows boot.ini file. This needs to be done from within the Windows environment.
See the Microsoft article;
How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP.
However, take care to remove the correct entry, not the active one.
I would just leave it alone.

sure I could leave it alone....but why not risk screwing up something badly just to fix something trivial?
thanks dan
Edit: worked like a charm
