Hi I'm having a problem with my computer, I hope someone could help me.
I have a WIN NT OS and after turning on the computer i'm getting a message Operating system not found. I did some research and I troubleshoot but I can not get to C:\ prompt.
BIOS recognize the hard drive but Windows doesn't my question is
How can I fix the Master Boot Record?
Thanks for looking

Hi , after I insert the boot disk I get the screen to select either a WinNT or WinNT-VGA mode or MS-DOS when I select any of these option I will get an error message that says non-system disk or disk error
thanks

As long as you use a boot disk from an NT-base file system you should be able to fix the problem. If your boot disk is failing and you do not have the original bootable CD from your operating system, you can create a 6-disk boot disk set to get your system booted to the recovery console. I don't have too much experience in NT, but XP is built on the NTFS file system, and under the hood has a lot of NT systems.

Once you have successfully booted to the recovery console, you might also run a chkdsk /r command to test and repair any defective areas on your hard drive.
