PREFNET error

old problem.....but when i search all over the web ...nobody can give me a certain answer...my only question is "HOW to work out the problem"......

2004:
Make sure that 'Server'-service is running.
Start->Run. services.msc

2002:
Make sure that 'Workstation'-service is running.
Start->Run. services.msc

if I tell you that I don't have these services...what you think?
so far as I know perfnet.sys is no necessary.......why not tell me perfnet connect to which service ...I will get rid of it.....THX
