Sound problem on SuSE 9.3

I have an IBM T40 laptop with an Intel8x2 Soundcard. After a fresh install of SuSE 9.3 everything worked. I updated the wireless card from Intel2100B to a Intel2200BG. Suddenly I have now sound. I have checked and rechecked and everything seems to be ok. Alsamixer shows the volume is up. I get warning beeps etc etc and at shutdown it plays a medley but XMMS, amaroK and ALSAPlayer produces no sound what so ever.

I have reinstalled ALSA and reconfigured it and NADA!

Any ideas?
