Hi, I've just installed final fantasy vii on my pc and everything went smoothly until i loaded up the game and the 'new game...continue' screen comes up, i choose 'new game' and then the screen just goes black, nothing happens at all.
Any suggestions on what the problem is?

I am presuming that you are using XP. Patch the game with this: http://www.sofotex.com/Final-Fantasy-VII-XP-Patch-download_L5052.html in order to get it to run with XP.

I had the same problem a few minutes ago after I installed the game. But then I installed the Movie Player from the install cd and everything works fine.

the FINAL FANTASY VII XP PATCH IS A SLIMY HACK
found out why at the sites below.
You really should use certain specific fan-made patches for the game. Even Eidos site links to one of the
fan-made patches. There is even improved models for the game (!).
Here is my Best-Quality Graphics and Sound Final Fantasy VII page:

And if that doesn't solve your problem, go to

that's where I learned all I know about fixing and improving Final Fantasy VII
