512 megs pc100
30 gig hd
Geforce2 go 32meg
15" UXGA
Linksys Wifi Card

I know Win2k pro sp4 has a smaller finger print than XP sp2 but xp sp2 is newer. What are your opinions?

I have pretty much the same system in a desktop and it runs XP PRO just fine.

aditional HDD is optional depending on your needs.

Yeah, xp is fine for that laptop. If that HD came with it (which I doubt), look into getting a faster 7200 RPM HD. Should improve performane alot.....and probably reduce battery usage due to new tech.

My wife runs WinXP Pro on a notebook with a similar specs. But it has only 256MB of RAM and 11MB graphics card. It's OK to browse in IE and do some simple tasks. But when she try to run Sims2, it's taking ages to start-up.
