Trouble accessing website... Help needed BADLY!

Recommended Posts

Ok.. I've never been able to access this website. It's www.owcc.cc.fl.us This is the website for my college and I need to be able to access it to complete requirements to start school. I lived in Louisiana and on the same computer could never access the site, but on my parent's computer, there was no problem. We were networked with a router in our house. I just moved to Florida and now I'm using a totally different ISP, but same computer, and still can't access it. I'm assuming it has something to do with my computer in particular. Here is a screen shot of the page that comes up.

I couldn't get the image to work. It just says at the bottom that it's either a webserver problem or a DNS error. If it would help to see the image I can send it via AIM or email...

Is there anything I can change that will allow me to access the site? My parents used IE and I've tried it using the IE and Maxthon browsers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need this site to access library info for classes throughout the school year. Thanks for any help.

Try adding the site to your Trusted sites in IE/Tools/Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites to ensure full access.

Could the problem be that you have cookies blocked and your college uses them. In IE go to tools/internet options/Privacy and in there change your cookie settings and see if that works. I have mine set at medium high and had no trouble accessing your colleges home page.

Good Luck

I just connected without any problems either and I have a high security setting, however, I use an alternative browser named Maxthon.

Also, have you added a custom hosts file to your machine ?!?

Does it have only a single entry for the local host or is it pretty large like what a custom hosts files usually are ?!?

OK. We all now know that it is not a problem with the site.

Have you tried flushing your DNS?

*************************************************

USAGE:

ipconfig [/? | /all | /renew [adapter] | /release [adapter] |

/flushdns | /displaydns | /registerdns |

/showclassid adapter |

/setclassid adapter [classid] ]

where

adapter Connection name

(wildcard characters * and ? allowed, see examples)

Options:

/? Display this help message

/all Display full configuration information.

/release Release the IP address for the specified adapter.

/renew Renew the IP address for the specified adapter.

/flushdns Purges the DNS Resolver cache.

/registerdns Refreshes all DHCP leases and re-registers DNS names

/displaydns Display the contents of the DNS Resolver Cache.

/showclassid Displays all the dhcp class IDs allowed for adapter.

/setclassid Modifies the dhcp class id.

The default is to display only the IP address, subnet mask and

default gateway for each adapter bound to TCP/IP.

For Release and Renew, if no adapter name is specified, then the IP address

leases for all adapters bound to TCP/IP will be released or renewed.

For Setclassid, if no ClassId is specified, then the ClassId is removed.

Examples:

> ipconfig ... Show information.

> ipconfig /all ... Show detailed information

> ipconfig /renew ... renew all adapters

> ipconfig /renew EL* ... renew any connection that has its

name starting with EL

> ipconfig /release *Con* ... release all matching connections,

eg. "Local Area Connection 1" or

"Local Area Connection 2"

*************************************************

From a command prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns".

Not saying it will work, but at least your PC will have to go out and resolve the name again.

Any other sites not working?
