problems with booting GRUB

hello
i have a serious problem, i have a dell inspiron 3800 with linux installed and i removed it with a recovery cd.
problem is everytime i start up it says this
GRUB Loading stage 1.5
error 22
partition not found

and i can only boot from a cd

how do i remove this GRUB

Im a bit sketchy on this but it will be something to do with wherever you put GRUB during your linux install. It will be either on the MBR or first sector of the primary disk.
In either case I'd suggest asking (or searching) over at www.linuxcompatible.org since they know thier grubs and lilos smile

I could give some suggestions but the last thing I want to do is make you break your install!
