Creative Sound Blaster Live value , no sound

I have installed RH fedora core 4 . It detects the sound card but cannot hear the sound.
any steps to configure the sound card or any commands .?

Just play around with the bars on your sound-control. It should work.

Did you configure it with alsaconf?

At the command line, open alsamixer and raise all the levels up.

i will that command and i let you know

another thing is when i try to connect . i using chap and pap to connect . kppp demaon died unexpectidly
any sugesstion . what i am doing wrong . i am using actiontec serial modem
