I just upgraded to FC4 and discovered that my external hard disk will not mount in the 2.6.11 kernel. I upgraded to the 2.6.12 kernel and the same problem happens. My external HDD mounted perfectly in the 2.6.9 and 2.6.10 kernels. When i type in tail /var/log/messages, I get this.
Jul 8 12:24:58 cm245 kernel: usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 10
Jul 8 12:25:01 cm245 kernel: usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
Anyone know what this problem is? Pls help!

I've tried both ways and the problem is still not solved. I'm getting really frustrated now. My entire backup is in that external hard disk and now I can't get anything out. Can someone please help me? My external hdd is formatted in fat32, if that's any help.

What happens when you type in as root user;
modprobe -r ehci-hcd then try to access the drive?
modprobe -r ehci-hcd then try to access the drive?

I've solved the problem. I plugged in the drive and powered it up before FC4 booted up and when I log into my account, it's mounted. Weird.
