Hi

I have a windows xp pro machine which is working OK and I have a broadband connection to the Internet. I want to host my own website in my own bedroom but I don't want to buy another machine.

Can I install Apache, IIS etc on my existing machine and convert it into a webserver without damaging anything.

TIA

Ian

Yes, you will be able to host Apache on an XP machine without any problems. If you have Apache, you won't need IIS as well.
Bear in mind that if you have a router or firewall, you'll need to setup port redirection.
If you have a non-static IP address from your ISP, you'll also need to setup forwarding from someone like dyndns or no-ip.

Apache is really easy to setup, and is very well documented, so you should be up and running in no time.
Depending on what kind of website you want, you may also want to investigate MySQL and PHP at the same time.

If you need any help, just shout!
