Hi there!

I'm trying to find a way to make US Navy Fighters play on my Windows 2000 desktop computer.

I read on this forum that someone suggested very briefly that it doesn't run on Windows 2000.

My question is, is this correct?

And if so is there maybe a tweak or some nifty program/way of helping Windows 2000 to make it work anyhow on that particular operating system?

Any kind help would be appreciated. smile

Thanks already now for replying!

Greetings

Have you tried running it in Windows' own compatiblity mode?

(You'll need SP4)

Click Start->Run. Type: regsvr32 %systemroot%\AppPatch\slayerui.dll

Reboot.

* Create a shortcut to the application and place the shortcut on the desktop.
* Right-click the shortcut and click properties.
* Select the compatibility tab
* Check the Run in compatability mode checkbox
* Select the OS you want to the application to think it is running under.

<edit>
And, the Apcompat.exe tool is located in the Support folder on the Windows 2000 CD-ROM.

Application Compatibility Program (Apcompat.exe)

This program is designed to overcome the most common causes of application incompatibility with Windows 2000. You can use this tool with a Windows interface by running the Application Compatibility program, or you can run this program as a command-line tool.

To use the Application Compatibility program,
1. Click Browse and specify the executable (.exe) file for the program you want to run.
2. Specify any of the Application Compatibility settings, and then click OK.

Try those smile

USNF is a Dos game. Only way to get it working in 2000/XP is by using DosBox http://dosbox.sourceforge.net It's also possible that it may work under VPC but I know for sure that it works under DosBox.

Hi again!

Thanks for replying to you both.

I am however a bit confused about the two different answers and am unsure as to whose advise I should follow best or first.

I am neither very used to install programs such as the dosbox application and lack knowledge on how to use it properly.

Any further help and explanation regarding that particular matter would be great and most helpful. smile

Greetings
