Might and Magic won't play! HELP ME PLEASE!

I bought a brand new hp a101w-b strictly to play all of my favorite computer games. I set it up and started installing all of my games, and when I went to play them none of them worked! I called hp, and they couldn't figure it out. They say nothing is wrong with my computer. I have Windows XP Home Edition, and I think that's why it won't work. I have already tried switching the 3D Sound and that didn't work.
None of the Might and Magic: 6, 7, 8; will work!
Is there anyway I can fix this problem without downloading Windows 98, and then switching back to XP?
;(

What error it gives to you? Does your account have administrator rights?
What folders does your CD(s) have? See if there is game data files uncompressed and try to copy them manually to installation folder. Make sure that they are not marked as read-only.

Then download this: ftp://ftp.sac.sk/pub/sac/pack/dshrnk16.zip
Unzip it. And execute deshrink.exe. In to "Filename (Input)", select the mss32.dll from the folder you installed the game ("C:\Magic6"). Select DLLs, from the Files of type box. Then onto "Filename (output)", save the file as mss32. Check "unpack Shrinker 3.4". Click Decompress.
Now goto to magic installation folder and rename the orginal mss32.dll to mss32.dll.bak and the mss32.(no extension) file to mss32.dll.
Then, if this works but the game does not start (different error message), click Start->Run. Type "dxdiag". Goto Sound tab, drag the "Hardware Sound Acceleration level to far left, "No accleration".

I have a similar error message with a different program when I run it in a limited user account. The program run fine in the administer account. It is an older program that was not designed for an OS with different user access.
Try running the program in an administer account or in the limited account right click the executable and select Run As.

MM6
has never given me any problems
MM7 v1.1
Windows 2000
Set video to "Hardware Accelerated 3D".
Set audio to "Disable Accelerated 3D Audio" (Haven't bothered to try an updated mss32.dll yet, also remember that you need to use the same "family" of bink version. For instance if a game uses v1.x of mss32.dll then you'll need to use a v1.x dll....you cannot use a v7.x dll".)
Run MM7.exe in Windows 95 Compatibility mode.
Game works.
Windows XP
Run the game in Windows 95 Compatibility Mode.
MM8 v1.0
Windows 2000
Instructions the same as MM7 except disable all sound acceleration in DXDIAG.
Windows XP
Run the game in Windows 95 Compatibility mode.
