I need help on getting DESCENT to work. I donloaded the Opengl version of Descent at PlanetDescent.com, and The port does not work, because I get this error when I try to run it:

"Not enough strings in text file - expecting 621, found 514."

How do I fix this problem?

There should be a .tex file in your Descent directory. Delete it.

Problem here is there is no .tex file anywhere in the directory, there are .txt files, but not .tex
I deleted the 3 .txt files that came with thw shareware version, and I still get the same error! Is there anything else I can try?

Hmm, deleting the descent.tex file works when the error generated is "Found 0". Your getting a "514".

It's likely something's up with those builds of DX.
Don't know what ver PlanetDescent is distributing.

Are you using D1X or D2X?

Try these:
