Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries troubles

hi
i have the windows version of mechwarrior 2 mercs and i am currently running windows xp professional. whenever i try the windows installation it comes up with an error saying 'the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application'

i was wondering if there is a solution to this problem so i can play this game once again

You cannot run the Windows version of Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries under NT4/2K/XP unless you use a program like Microsoft Virtual PC or Vmware. Your either better off running the game with a dual-boot of 98 or running the DOS version in NT4/2K/XP.
