Outlook Express 6 Help

My S.O. is Windows XP Pro.
In Outlook Express I select a message in Inbox go to Edit and
then click on Delete to delete the message. But nothing happen
the message is not deleted.
Result that I have my email box replete of messages.
Can anybody help me ?
