Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise installation error

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First, I installed Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise on windows 98 se and tried to start visual c++ 6.0 and got an error, whose details is below :

Quote:

Then I clean installed windows 98 se and immediately installed Visual studio 6.0 enterprise again. But I got same error.

Then I uninstalled whole Visual studio and installed only Visual c++ 6.0 this time I got this error :

I also tried in other machines working on windows ME and windows XP professional but I got same errors.

I also checked CD with IsoBuster but it did not suggested any unreadable areas either.

Please help.

Thanks.

I was gonna suggest a RAM or a conflicting prog problem but then I see you tried it on other boxes.

To be honest, I haven't ever had a problem such as this in all the time I have being using VB5, VB6... VS.

Just a thought but are you configuring something a bit different in the installation? SSSCC.DLL is a Visual Source Safe file- maybe you could try either a) doing a typical install or b)take out the VSS stuff and see what happens.

The final thing (and please take this as a possible, not a direct statement) is that you have either got a dodgy copy of the program or some nice person has altered the original installation and given you the results frown

Can you get the original discs?

Hi BMS,

I have no idea why you application is crashing on first go on all these operating systems. It's possible that you're installing a web browser before Visual Studio in all of these instances. Did you try service pack 6a before trying to run anything. And yes I also agree bad media seems like an extremely probable situation. If you call Microsoft they'll send you a new copy of the disks for about 10 dollars. 425-882-8080 and then just ask the operator to get the media replacement department.

Cheers,

Hi all,

thanks for the replies I will try all probabilities, first of all it is not my personal Copy, infact all the play took place in a Educational Institution, The CD is a backup of original one, I have asked the administrator for original, I will see what's going to come next,

Any way, thanks

bye and take care.
