Diamond 1200 plus (Pakckard Bell) scanner not working with XP

I have just purchased a Diamond 1200plus scanner and for two days and many instructions i still cannot get it to work.It says the 'Scanner is not connected please check the cable', then 'The scanner is not ready', why am i having such trouble please? I junked my Genius Vivid for the same reason but it appears it's not the scanner after all.I now have two that don't work:*(

Maybe this will help you...
I had no driver CD for my Pakckard Bell Diamond 1200 plus.
I downloaded and installed the driver of MUSTEK BearPaw 1200CU PLUS, which is very similar model. MUSTEK is the manufacturer of the Pakckard Bell scanner.
Now it works fairly well...

Another idea...
Your scanner receives the power from the USB port of the PC.
Maybe the PC's USB port has problem.
Try to connect the scanner to another USB connector.
