new linux user question

Recommended Posts

I have a small problem. It appears a Redhat linux 7.2 machine was hacked and when i shut it down and rebooted, well it didn't. it stops looking for directories that are not there and then stops at lo. Is there any way I can get it up and running without losing everything on the drive. Is Redhat 8 and option as an upgrade that might save the system?

Thanks in advance

Paul

It is unclear in your post what exactly is going on. When you reboot the machine, it posts, correct? Then does LILO boot your Linux partition, or does the machine hang at LILO?
