Well, there are some utilities which can be used to recover lost passwords.
You will do this on your own risk, none can be held responsible if something goes wrong.
BACKUP your system before you do anything.
Resetting a user's or administrator's password on some systems (like Windows XP) might cause data loss, especially EFS-encrypted files and saved passwords from within Internet Explorer.

You may also give Hiren's Boot CD a shot. It not only resets passwords, but has some cool software on it too which you can use for such tasks as partitioning and "limited" data recovery.
