can't view vcd smoothly in my pentium I pc

Recommended Posts

Buy a new computer?

I'm not aware of any add-on boards that accelerate VCD's like the old Realmagic boards that accelerated DVD's.

Cheapest route for you with least amount of effort would be to pick up a Sony DVD player that supports VCD playback.

Try copying the VCD to the hard drive. Try resizing the video smaller. If all else fails, chip in the $5 to upgrade your processor and motherboard.

I use to have A P2 300 that was bad at playing dvds.

If it makes a diff. to copy it to the hard drive it will be next to nothing. If you had a P2 that was bad at playing VCD's why would his P1 be sufficient?

dear sekharleem,

since its a Pentium 1, what you need is to install an MPEG card.[try Acer V18 or anything compatible]. It will make your movie run smoothly. But dont throw away your VGA card [you need to connect it to the MPEG card]. Other things, you can replace the VGA card with something higher memory [maybe now you used 1MB card, replace with4 or 8 MB instead].

OK, happy trying.
