need help with Sims 1 - no sound on Win2k

Hi

I have the original sims game (off ebay) and have installed it but whent he game loads I dont have a curser pointer to select any options so have to try and highlight the words to click and then when playing the game I get the curser but only when moving my sims around and also I dont get any sound even thought I have the volume on ingame controls turned to full.

Any help?

Im running Win2kSP4 with Soundblaster Live 1024.
