Ok! I have windows 98 os and i want to install winxp. i have an original cd too. the problem is when i inserT it and then click on 'check compatiblility' button an error message-E:\1386\WIN9XUPG\W95UPG.DLL is missing and cannot upadate.
But then the microsoft upadate adivisor pops up . there i select the radio button -'yes update filles(recommended)'. it reads 'downloading from net' and then automatically closes!
thats it! the error msg pops up agin when the'check comatibility' is selected.the same one!

cant i ever install xp?? and what is the difference 'tween
installing xp fresh and 'updating' it?how do i resolve this prob.

Alec, thanks a lot. but the prob. is i am doing this kind of os instalation for the FIRST time. so please tell me how do i install 2 os's , 'in detail'.

if i do so 'll the hard disk space get equally distributed ?

and what's 'fat32'?

plz explain everything in detail.
