System shutsdown abruplty when i click on any application

hi,
i have bought a new video card GEFORCE MX4000 128MB DDR DVI & TV Out .My system configuration is
P4 1.5 Mhz on intel GB850 motherboard with 64*4 RD RAM and hardisk 0f 80+40 GB.
My problem is when i click on any application after the bootup the system abruplty shuts down.I am unable to resolve the problem.I was using a 32 MB riva TNT display before and it was working fine.

Is the problem with the display card or the power supply or the compatibility issue with the motherboard.

Kindly help i need this resolved soooon.

what errors are you getting in your system logs?

Which drivers did you use? Did you use the drivers from XP? The CDROM supplied with card or from internet? Early drivers suffer from the endless loop bug? Updating them may help.
