tell me if im wrong. but wasnt there a free patch/upgrade
for windows Xp to add a 64 bit layer on top of the 32 bit?
where did that one go?
anyone have a link?
i saw on the microsoft page, and there i only found a way to BUY it or download a trial. but that seemed to be a whole new OS setup. since it took a whole lot of space.. :S

The 64-Bit edition of Windows XP (Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is it's full title) is currently in beta and can be downloaded as a trial from Microsoft's website.
The software is a new distribution of XP and as you suspect, is a 'whole' OS in it's own right. So no upgrade I'm afraid.
