Have you tried just becoming root first:

su [enter]
(password) [enter]

apt-get install xmms [enter]

?

Have you tried installing it through Synaptic?

i would love to become root but i dont know the password for root it didnt ask me i got xmms installed though even in synaptic it had the problem with the text

all right so i logged into kde
it worked in konsole no problem
xfce same problem

the thing is im not big on kde and id like to fix this
the issues is everything is in shapes or even squares im going to check language but i dont think thats the issue

to put it simply with synaptic
i installed things blindly then decided to quit on konsole i fixed everything up

thanks for teh response
