Hi:
I'm kind of a noob at networking, especially wireless networking. Anyway, I'd like to set up a wireless network between my desktop & laptop to share files & an internet connection.

I've installed a USB WiFi adapter in the desktop and a CardBus adapter in the laptop. The desktop sees other networks, including the laptop, and can connect, but thats it. I can't access anything on the laptop at all. The laptop does not see any network at all...

Also, the desktop machine is running XP Home-SP2 and the laptop is running 2000 Pro-SP4...all updates,ect...

All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Be sure that both machines have at least one subdirectory as shareable (in Windows Explorer a little hand appears by that subdirectory). If they are still not seeing each other, the SP2 firewall will need to be configured. To see if that is the problem, temporarily stop the firewall from running on the SP2 machine. If they see each other, you will know it is Windows Firewall that needs to be configured.
