I have a realtek ethernet card in my desktop and windows can see that the network is there, and knows when I disconnect the cable, and send packets, but it doesn not recieve any, and I cannot get onto the network. Tryied switching the port I am hooked up to but that didn;t work, and I know the cable is good, any help would be appreciated

Do you have a firewall running, such as the one with SP2 installed?

1. Start, Settings, Network Connections
2. Select 'Local Area Connection'
3. Select File, Properties
4. Click Advanced tab
5. Click Settings
6. Untick option for Firewall
