Diamond Viper 770(tnt2 not ultra) Help

I have been trying to help out a friend install win2k final professional and he keeps getting this problem. It installs fine but when he trys to boot into it it gets past the boot screen and almost to the login screen but the monitor just goes blank. He can start the machine normally in the VGA mode. Solutions we have tried are removing all cards except video and reinstalling, also installed all the different detonator drivers with no luck, was wondering if someone else had this problem and how they fixed it. I would appreciate the help.

This has been answered several times on this forum, but anyway...

Ensure that the mobo BIOS is allocating an IRQ to the video card.
