I know of the "/sos" mod to the boot.ini file, but that gives me another more ugler boot screen. Can that be changed or removed completely?

Another XP boot screen option: /bootlogo

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/info/bootini.shtml

(a very reputable site, check out their other utilities!)

I came across this just this morning when revisiting the site but unfortunately, I haven't gotten it to work as good as what it was intended for I'm sure (I do get my new boot.bmp to flash but it isn't staying up).

I have put the required entry (see above link) in the boot.ini at several different locations in the file (to see if one spot was better than the others, both with and without a boot.bmp file) but I still haven't pin-pointed the right combination.

If anybody gets this locked down, please post it (I will too).

G/L.
