For driver packages to be installed, the kernel-source package often needs to be installed. It often is not instaled unless you told the ReHat installer to do so during the install process.

Are you using the stock kernel that came with RedHat (did not update the kernel through up2date or other means)? If so, then you can install the kernel source package and try again.

Can you provide the link to thre driver package that you are trying to install?
