but I would like to overclock my pentiums but have no cntrl over bus speed no jumpers, bios or anything. and the multiplier seems to have jumpers but no matter how I arange them nothing changes. I would like to use soft fbs but with out knowing exactly what mother board i have this is tuff so any help Like if you know make of mother board used by gateway or maybe a bios upgrade that will work curently pheonix bios not sure revision not at home(but up to date). any type of help would be great

Pentium 2's all have a multiplier lock - so the only way to o/c them is by changing the FSB, and you can only do that if the PLL that generates the FSB clock can be re-programmed (Ars Technica has good articles on both these subects).

The easiest way to see if SoftFSB will work is to go over the mobo looking for a 20(ish) pin DIL chip that has a designation as listed in FSB...not fun.

Also Microid Research (www.mrbios.com) used to do a line of replacement BIOSs for most motherboards - they be able to help.
