Installing Windows 98 over WIndows XP

I have a computer with little RAM and horrible processor (AMD Athlon 1800). It has Windows XP installed but it is incredibly slow and frustrating. Anyways I want to install Windows 98 SE but get rid of Windows XP. I have some ideas on how to do this, but it would be great if someone could give me basic step by step instructions on how to do this. If you're asking why dont I just upgrade my computer..the answer is simple..I dont want to spend money.
