Hi,
I'm running a compaq 5151 with intergated (ESS1869) sound mobo, and Slackware (currently 8.1) i have used almost ever distro of slack, and even tried redhat (5.3 i believe) and the only problem i ever have is attempting to get sound to work properly.
I have gotten it to work but only with one sound channel (only hearing one sound at a time ie: having to stop playing mp3s to hear gICQ sounds, or gnome sounds) and looking the homepage of this site i see that ESS1869 is "supposedly" supported. If anyone has any information on getting this sound card working, i would greatly appreciate it.
Altho recently i've had to hash the linux partition to install WinXP (which is decent but it's just not Linux frown ).
