USB 3com Homeconnect webcam installation failure- Not recognized by the system. I am using an Asus p4p800 deluxe with 865 chipset and XP.
The USB is enabled in the BIOS. USB2 also.
Note: The webcam is working and recognized in an older PC pentium 3 with XP.
Any idea?
Thanks
Fred

Some firewalls and certain anti-virus programs can interfere with USB connections. You might try disabling them temporarily and see if you can get it installed.

Thanks for answering.
But still no recognition of my 3com webcam with the newest Bios and firewall off.
Any other idea?

How is it connected to the system. Front port, back port, a USB Hub? Some devices require more power than others, so where you plug it may make a difference.

AFAIK, Firewalls, only affect Dial up or LAN connections. It should not affect USB connections. Turn it back on.

There is a utility found here http://www.usb.org/developers/tools/ to test the USB ports to see if they are properly enumerating the device found and whether they are actually communicating.
