How to get Wing Commander IV work on w2k?

Any ideas how to get wing commander IV work on w2k? When i try to run it, I get "VirtualProtect() failed." message. I have the W95 patch.

Doesn't work. I have CD-version.

The problem is apparently in the way 2K reads variables differently from XP.
