all right i had the kascd reading the mount ponts fine but now it cant seem to find the mnt points of my cd drives after messing with the alsamixer

mnt/cdrom dvd drive JLMS dvd drive 16x
mnt/cdrom cd rw drive Cendyne 48X Cd rw
im not sure on what info i can provide
i reset the mount settings to default and the general options on the optical drives and im running mandrak 10 ce no major changes on that

now it cant even find the drive

You have both drives set to the same mount point?

I am so used to doing this by hand...I'll have to look at the hardware manager in Mandrake 10.

What does /etc/fstab say about the two drives?

mnt/cdrom dvd
mnt/cdrom2 cdrw

i unistalled and reinstalled mandrake seeing as how quick the install was

thanks anyhow im just stilll unable to get sound and windows isnt either i hope my audigy isnt fried

undder windows it says no direct sound file found here i posted the bug in the other thread
